Tax Assistance for Individuals and Small Business

The 2022 income tax filing deadline is Monday, April 18th, due to the holiday observed in Washington, D.C., Emancipation Day, falling on April 15th this year. Whether you use online tax software or an accountant, filing a return can be costly. We have gathered a few local resources to help with filing your return.

Free 2022 Individual Tax Preparation Resources: 

United Way has IRS-certified volunteers available in person or virtually across King, Pierce, and Snohomish County. Find a location near you and learn what to bring to be prepared for tax filing:

United Way Snohomish County

United Way Snohomish County refers all clients to AARP Foundation Tax-Aide which offers in person and self-file options to anyone, with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low to moderate income.  AARP membership is not required.

Virtual Service supported by the IRS, US Department of Treasury and White House to help low-income households across America. Filing assistance available in English and Spanish.

Both a self-file and file with assistance option are offered in both English and Spanish.  File with assistance has a maximum annual income limit of $58,000 and can take 1-2 weeks to complete a return.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide

AARP membership is not required and the program is open to all ages and income levels.  In-person and self-file options are available.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

VITA provides assistance preparing basic returns for individuals earning up to $58,000 annually, persons with disabilities or need access to an interpreter.  This program is operated by IRS partners and staffed by trained volunteers.  To find a location near you, call (800) 906-9887 or visit their website here.

Small Business Assistance:

Verity Credit Union is hosting a virtual presentation with Lily Tran (EA, CTC, NTPI Fellow) on Tuesday, March 29th from 9am-10am.  She will discuss the most common mistakes that small businesses make when filing their taxes and answer questions.  Click here to register.
