Happy September! As we transition into the next month of 2022 we would like to acknowledge the celebrations and observances.
Below is a list of celebrations and observances throughout September, as well as links to government or nonprofit websites that help provide more education on each topic.
Month-long Observances & Celebrations
- Recovery Month: Started in 1989, September is used to “promote and support evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nations’ strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible.” Visit the SAMHSA website for more information.
- Hispanic Heritage Month (Thursday, September 15 – Saturday, October 15): A month (crossing two months) to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions. The National Hispanic Heritage Month website has additional info (not updated yet to 2022, so check back closer to 9/15). Around Seattle, there’s the Sea Mar Fiestas Patrias at the Seattle Center on 9/17 & 9/18. As 9/15 approaches, more events will pop up online, so keep checking your local community blogs and networks for more information.
