By September 1, 2022 Microgrant
At Verity, part of our mission is building vibrant communities, and one way we do that is through our microgrant program. These small grants are available for projects that advance community wellbeing in the Greater Seattle area. Applications are accepted year round and grants are awarded twice yearly. We recently selected our spring 2022 microgrant recipients and are excited to share about each project and organization as part of our new microgrant series.
Our fourth highlighted recipient is the Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery. The Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery is a multi-use multi-cultural accessible arts gallery grounded in the Chicana/o Latinx arts traditions, located on the border of the West Seattle and the White Center neighborhoods. Their work celebrates and promotes the artwork and crafted goods of marginalized communities and communities of color. Monthly art exhibitions feature voices from these communities, while an ever growing shop allows local artists to sell their unique collections of apparel, jewelry, handmade gifts, and amazing works. The Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery also serves as a community space for events such as arts related lectures and workshops, open mics, and community forums.
The Nepantla Cultural Arts Gallery is a hub for the thriving Latinx/Chicanx communities in South Seattle and beyond. Their goal is to make all artwork an accessible experience, to bring a voice to their communities, and to share their stories with the greater Seattle area.
