June Observances: Pride, Heritage, and Community

By VerityCU June 1, 2026

With warmer weather on the horizon, June brings opportunities to celebrate identity, diversity, freedom, and community across the Pacific Northwest.

From Pride Month and Immigrant Heritage Month to Juneteenth and the official start of summer, this month invites us to reflect, connect, and celebrate the many stories and experiences that shape our communities.

As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Verity believes financial well-being and opportunity should be accessible to everyone. This month, we’re highlighting observances and local events that promote inclusion, celebrate diversity, and encourage community connection.

Month-long Observances & Celebrations

Pride Month
Pride Month honors the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating the history, achievements, resilience, and ongoing work toward equality and inclusion. It’s a time to elevate LGBTQIA+ voices, foster belonging, and create spaces where people can show up fully and authentically as themselves.

We recognize that LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially those navigating intersecting identities, have historically faced barriers within traditional financial systems. Our commitment to equity means continuing to build inclusive relationships, services, and spaces rooted in trust, dignity, and community.

We invite you to celebrate Pride with us throughout the month.

Immigrant Heritage Month
Since June 2014, Immigrant Heritage Month has provided an opportunity for people across the United States to reflect on their own heritage while celebrating the diverse contributions that make up the unique story of our country today. Immigrants have long strengthened our communities through entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, advocacy, and cultural traditions. This month encourages learning, storytelling, and honoring the experiences that continue to shape the American story.

Professional learning resources, including stories and educational materials, connected to Immigrant Heritage Month can be found through organizations like the American Library Association.

The holiday also serves as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging history while continuing to build stronger, more inclusive communities.
