- French-American Heritage Month: A month to acknowledge and celebrate French-American Heritage. You can learn more at French American Cultural Foundation.
Daily Observances & Celebrations
- Tuesday, July 18th – International Nelson Mandela Day: In recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday, this is a day to remember Mandela and his contribution to the culture of peace and freedom. See more at the UN website, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, and the Nelson Mandela Day website. “It is easy to break down and destroy. The heroes are those who make peace and build.”
- Wednesday, July 26th – National Disability Independence Day: This is the 32nd anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which was signed into law on July 26, 1990. Learn more at the ADA National Network and ADA Anniversary Org. There’s also a Northwest ADA Center that has more information.
- Sunday, July 30th – International Day of Friendship: A day designated by the United Nations to share in the human spirit through friendship. Learn more at the UN website.
