By July 1, 2025
July is a month that honors independence, inclusion, and the power of people coming together to create a better future. From heritage celebrations to movements that center equality and sustainability, there are many ways to reflect, connect, and get inspired this month.
Month-long Observances & Celebrations
French-American Heritage Month
French-American Heritage Month celebrates the enduring impact of French culture on American society. From language and cuisine to fashion and diplomacy, French influence is woven into the fabric of the U.S.—especially in regions like Louisiana and parts of the Northeast.
We’re getting ready to put on our berets (figuratively), dig into rich history, and celebrate the cultural connections between France and the U.S. This month is a reminder of how immigrant stories and cultural exchange have shaped—and continue to shape—American life. So go ahead, pause your faux French accent, and take a moment to learn, s’il vous plaît.

Events & Day Observances
Independence Day – July 4
Independence Day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776—a pivotal step in the founding of the United States. While the 4th of July is now known for fireworks, barbecues, and family gatherings, it also offers a moment to reflect on the nation's roots, ideals, and the ongoing journey toward liberty and justice for all.

On the first Saturday of July, cooperatives around the world join together for the International Day of Cooperatives (CoopsDay). This year under the theme is “Cooperatives: Driving Inclusive and Sustainable Solutions for a Better World.”

Nelson Mandela International Day – July 18
July 18 marks the birthday of Nelson Mandela, who was a global symbol of peace, justice, and reconciliation. Mandela Day is not just about celebration. It’s a call to action. People around the world are encouraged to devote 67 minutes of their time (one for each year Mandela spent in public service) to making a positive impact in their communities.
Whether through volunteering, donations, or acts of kindness, we honor Mandela’s legacy by continuing his mission of dignity, equality, and freedom for all.

National Disability Independence Day – July 26
National Disability Independence Day commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in 1990. This landmark legislation prohibited discrimination and paved the way for greater accessibility and inclusion.
The day honors the ongoing fight for disability rights and serves as a powerful reminder that equity means removing barriers for everyone. At Verity, recognize the importance of designing systems, financially and otherwise, that are inclusive, accessible, and empowering.
