Building Your Financial Wellness: Start with Savings

By VerityCU September 5, 2025

At Verity, we understand that financial health begins with one simple step—saving. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to strengthen your financial foundation, consistent savings habits can give you peace of mind and open the door to future opportunities.

Start Small, Build Consistency
If you haven’t started saving yet, that’s okay—it’s never too late to begin. Even setting aside a few dollars each payday or month makes a difference. The key is consistency. Over time, those small contributions add up and create a safety net you can rely on when life throws you a curveball.

A good long-term goal is to build an emergency fund with at least three months’ worth of expenses. This cushion can help you weather unexpected costs or income interruptions without relying on high-interest debt.

Make Saving Automatic
To stay on track, determine an amount you’re comfortable saving and set up an automatic transfer into your savings account. Treating your savings like a monthly bill ensures you’ll keep making progress without needing to think about it. And don’t forget about your future self—if your employer offers a retirement plan such as a 401(k) with matching contributions, be sure to enroll and take advantage of that “free money.”

Savings Options at Verity
Every member’s goals are different, and Verity offers a variety of savings accounts to help you reach them:
