YOU HAVE A CHOICE IN WHERE YOU BANK
We believe a financial institution can do good. When you bank with Verity, your money helps make positive impacts in our vibrant communities. About 87% of our deposits are used to invest in the local economy and members through loans, whether it’s a loan for an eco-friendly car, bicycle, starting a small business or purchasing a home.
All financial institutions use customer deposits and income to fund loans. The question is how much the institution is reinvesting in the community and what kinds of things they are investing in with customer deposits.
Verity members’ deposits and credit union income are reinvested in our members and community partners to support people, planet and prosperity for our communities.
That means when you’re not using your money, it’s helping others in the community. You have a choice in where you bank—why not choose a financial institution doing good in your community.
VIBRANCY WITH VERITY
We’re attracted to it. You see it, you hear it, you feel it when you’re in certain neighborhoods. There’s a sense of buzz and shared pride in the local music scene. You see art around every corner. Stories overheard in the coffee shop make you want to pull up a chair.
These are the signs of a vibrant community. But it’s the people behind the signs that make it possible. Each bringing their own unique energy around a shared set of values. We bank on values too, focused on prosperity for people and planet. So you can dream boldly, and feel good about how you’ll get there.
That’s how we help create vibrancy for our members and communities. You won’t find us on every corner, but we’re always in yours, delivering simple, truthful financial services to help you live vibrantly.
GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR BANKING ON VALUES
Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) is a not-for-profit organization and independent network of banks and credit unions with a shared mission to use finance to deliver sustainable economic, social and environmental development. They believe we can change global finance by financing change.
At Verity, we strongly believe protecting the environment is a collective effort. This is why we offer loans to help you live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. But even more is needed—so we joined other GABV members to track and monitor the carbon impact of our loans and investments. This Climate Change Commitment aligns with the Paris Agreement goals to keep global temperature increases under control.
CREDIT UNION DIFFERENCE
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives, which means that the net income is distributed to member-shareholders—often through lower loan rates, higher deposit earnings and lower fees. Every member is a shareholder, giving them a voice in what happens to the financial institution. And with an entirely volunteer board—elected by members—you can trust that they’re making decisions for the best of the organization.
Credit unions in Washington provide more than $5.5 billion in total economic impact per year. At Verity, each member saves about $103 per year by being a member. This is your money supporting your communities, not paying corporate stockholders.
Where your money sleeps at night has a tremendous impact on the community—make it positive.
