Having the opportunity every day to get closer to fulfilling our mission statement is what excites John Zmolek about his new role as CEO of Verity Credit Union. John is passionate about helping member empower their financial lives and ensuring that Verity is at the heart of the communities we serve. He began his journey with Verity as a board member in 1986 before joining staff as CFO in 1990. He stepped up to the CEO position on January 1, 2014. In his role, he manages the operations of the credit union while working closely with the board of directors to set the course of the credit union.
John received his BS in Economics from Iowa State University and his MS from University of California- Davis. He has a hobby of serving on non-profit boards. Whether kayaking, bicycling or hiking, he likes to be outdoors. When indoors, he loves cooking and entertaining.

Sherry Steckly is one of Verity's longest-serving employees, with more than 31 years. "It's really the culture that has kept me here. For example, we value lifelong learning and provide education opportunities for both staff and Verity members." Sherry is a NAFCU-certified regulatory compliance officer and a 2008 graduate of the Executive Development Program, University of Washington.
Today, Sherry is responsible for branch and call center operations as well as continuous member feedback through surveys and direct contact. "Our goal is to make the branches conducive to their communities they're in rather than making them all identical," she explains. Originally from Canada, Sherry is a devoted patron of Seattle Arts and Lecture, Meany Theater World Dance and the Edmonds Sno-Isle Public Library.

Justin started his long career at Verity as a summer intern. After leaving to pursue a degree in human resource management at Western Washington University, he returned to what he describes as "one of the strongest environments I have seen in terms of focus on their employees."
During his time here, Verity has been recognized with multiple awards ranging from employee development initiatives to overall work environment. Justin holds an MBA from Seattle University along with being an honors graduate from Western CUNA Management School and a certified Credit Union Development Educator.

Jason comes to Verity with over 22 years of experience in the credit union industry. After starting as a teller in his first credit union, Jason quickly moved up the ranks with roles in accounting and software support. In his most recent role, Jason led the technology operations as the Vice President of IT at a Minneapolis credit union for the last 15 years. He believes that his technology team has a huge responsibility providing tools that are secure, available, and efficient and meet the needs of Verity's membership and staff.
Jason received his BA degree from the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Finance and minoring in Mathematics. He is also a 2005 graduate of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Management School in Madison, WI. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, boating, hiking and camping with his wife and two boys.
Mike’s professional background includes over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry focused on finance, treasury and operations, the last 15 years as Chief Financial Officer. During his career he has held progressive leadership positions with both large and small financial firms specializing in unsecured lending, residential mortgages and deposit products.
As Chief Financial Officer for Verify Credit Union, Mike is responsible for enhancing long term member value through competitive product pricing, expense management and efficient growth. He believes providing members the best financial products, at reasonable rates with unmatched service is the key to building lasting relationships with members.
Mike received both his BS in Finance and MBA from Florida State University. Mike has served as a board member for St. Judes Ranch for Children and enjoys hiking, golfing, and snowboarding with his four sons in his spare time.

Heidi started her career by spending 10 years in the credit union industry before moving on to work for several large community banks for the last 12 years. She couldn’t be more thrilled to be returning to the credit union industry and the “people helping people” philosophy. She has spent her 22-year career in marketing for financial institutions, initially in Indiana before moving to Washington in 2000.
Throughout her career, Heidi has believed that a strong brand must be built from the inside out, focusing first on instilling the values and mission in the employees—in the ways they treat one another and members. When success is achieved in building a strong culture, this spills over and creates a brand that people will talk about, and growth happens organically.
Heidi received her BA from Purdue University and enjoys volunteering for Westside Baby. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
